I have busted my ass at this job, rarely if ever taken off, have come in person nearly every day,worked after hours for free, covered on extremely short notice, etc.... and i'm also young fresh blood that has shown I can learn and adapt extremely quickly and even train people. I have also declined promotional interviews for other divisions to stay here

and my competition is someone who's been here 30 years, never applied for this job before now, is using PTO all the time, and talks about how they didn't apply before because they're trying to leave and retire and thought the job was too much work but somehow they were talked into applying.

I think I'm the clear favorite amongst the supervisors(a lot of them told me to apply almost immediately after it was posted) but I dunno, i'm gearing up for an upset and shopping around for other places to work. Stupid public sector job so theres no performance based raises or promotions, its basically entirely political lol.

Either way though my saltiness won't last long, it'll be the kick in the ass I needed to realize no job is worth all that effort.
