Basically, once it succeeded, big studios stopped with the more experimental, even darker efforts, and went in on child-friendly, irreverent comedies.
I mean that was part of it, the other part was all those experimental, darker efforts bombed. I mean after stuff like Titan AE, studios were perfectly happy just not having animation at all.
