Modern 2D Mario level design found it's footing with SMW and NSMB DS, that's where the secret exits and "find three or five special coins in this stage" influenced the way the entire levels are made to accommodate for such secrets. But I think the current "one gimmick per level" thing may have started with 3, even if it's more apparent from NSMB Wii onwards --- YoungMutual ... Copied to Clipboard! |
