I have met a lot of CEOs in my line of work in the transportation industry and you would be surprised how dumb and stupid a lot of them are. Good portion of them were gifted their jobs.

Im convinced half of them would be working a menial, low paying job like delivering packages for Amazon if they didnt have the connections or contacts that they have.

it made me learn the hard way that merit and hard work dont take you very far if you dont know the right people
I couldnt agree more. The best jobs typically go to the most undeserving, under qualified person whose parents played golf with the right people. Fuck connections and this entire system. We operate at diminishes capacity when we arent putting the best candidate in every position.

this is such bullshit. the reason theft is higher than its ever been is because stores are expected to run on skeleton crews now. back when i worked at my local Walmart in the electronics department, there was always a minimum of 3 associates in the department at almost all times, plus one or two for sporting goods and hardware each. every time i shop there these days, you are lucky if you come across ONE associate in the entire back end. customers who are thinking about stealing are more likely to do it if they don't see any associates around. simply having an associate or two in high theft risk departments is a deterrent to theft. but the execs want profit margins to be as high as possible, so they tell the store managers to hire as few people as possible so they can save money on payroll.
The short staffing trends need to stop. It is abusive to the worker, it gives the customer a horrible experience, and the only people to benefit are CEOs who dont actually do any work. They said wahh, nobody wants to work! when they had thirty people on payroll and corporate would only allow a skeleton crew to save money. The boomers bought it hook, line, and sinker, and its just now that theyre starting to realize that this was a corporate money grab the entire time.

If I saw someone stealing food, I wouldnt say a word to anyone. If they need it and the store decided to price gauge the item so they cant afford to buy it, then they should be able to take it.
