It's super obvious that the whole thing was a set-up, but why did they want Scott Calvin to become Santa? And who exactly is the "they" there? What happened to Roof Santa afterwards? He waves to Scott, so clearly he wasn't dead. What was the point of this whole elaborate ruse?
