not if most of the buildings are made out of some thick concrete like in okinawa. been through so many typhoons in my 14 years of living there and the worst outcome was 3-day-long power outages. that said I know some of the older folk there live in very fragile-looking houses in isolated villages which i assume is where most of the death count happens (outside of people being outside during typhoons)..

i remember seeing a video of a photographer being swept by a rouge wave a few hours after a typhoon had just occurred. he was sitting on top of a coral. cliff. video has been deleted since then.

1 killed in okinawa. 1 killed in japan. i used to have the video saved on an older pc but sadly its gone. the waves didnt even look that rough at first.
