In a country with 400 million guns. That of which about half of the population own. Guess which political half has the majority of them, and have ingrained into their culture, "from my cold dead hands," and have embraced the meme of "I lost them all in a boating accident!" Plus, the response of "take/ban all guns away" just cements in their minds to stockpile even more. It happens after every high profile shooting, ammo shelves go bare, as do the gun racks. I should know, I've been in these places every single time after and saw it for myself. I remember one time a dude came into a gun store with one of those hand truck/dolly things and bought 10,000 rounds of ammo.

Whether we "need" more guns or not is irrelevant. But we do need them in responsible hands, and put checks in place to monitor/punish those who aren't. The genie is out of the bottle, and with 3D printing becoming more advanced and available we'll be facing a whole new set of issues down the road. The nightclub shooter earlier was a clear example; dude had enough red flags to see him from orbit, yet it took a coordinated effort from people in the club to finally end his murder spree. And this sack of shit tonight had to kill himself(according to some sources I saw) for it finally end.

Cosmetic feature bans, magazine restrictions, "assault weapon" taxes, outright bans don't mean shit to anyone besides those that don't know any better and are conditioned to just hate "scary black gun," or know full well they don't do jack shit, but knows their voting base thinks those do, and double down on them for support.

We absolutely need change. Current parties aren't going to allow actual discussion, so it's up to us right now to not become the next set of victims. Hate it, bemoan it, but don't deny it. There are hateful people out there counting on you to make defending yourself legally one sided, and to give them no challenge.
