horror movies are great b/c the stakes are high. anyone can die, and the movie is playing for keeps.
compare to love stories where you just f***ing know Emma Roberts won't die in the first movie. if a character were to ever die, it'd be big, cheesy, slow, etc.
horror is fast. it hits hard.
You look at some bad horror movies and say "lol those are bad" but considered as a genre, the average quality of horror movies is much greater than the average quality of other movies.
horror keeps me guessing. The Notebook, Princess Dairies, 50 First Dates i feel like i know exactly what's going to happen 45 minutes before it happens
