Two major criticisms are that it was slightly overambitious (e.g. the art style) and many many times the characters were out of character in a stupid way. Overall, I'd rank the series VLR >= 999 >> ZTD. The order of the first two is a matter of personal preference, I feel, because they're both very good. But both are an order of magnitude better than ZTD. It's somewhat disappointing. Thankfully, from what I understand AI is a return to form for Uchikoshi, so I have that to look forward to down the line --- Grind. Future.
