It can help them decide if they are on the right path where they can find rhe sort of evidence they need. It's also just used as a pressure tool. "You failed the polygraph! We know you did it!! Just tell us how it happened." And some people will fall for that sort of pressure. --- "I just want to sit here and watch this girl eat hamburgers.
