Freezing rain is just rain (not frozen nor sleet nor anything but water). However, because the ground temperature is 32 or below the falling rain creates ice very quickly on contact.

i hope his stupid sedan got totaled but he's fine. i actually saw someone veer off the road during a blizzard that way, a jeep driver who went right into a tiny little skinny tree. surprisingly solid.
