Ok actually reading the article she's not really wrong about anything that I can tell. There absolutely has been a massive culture shift over how the internet is used and how people interact over it. Whether it's better or worse is subjective, but her analysis of what happened is solid, and the why isn't unreasonable.

Though imo the thing that "killed" the internet was Facebook. Once it became in vogue to shirk anonymity and handles in favor of your real name and selfies, that's when the big shifts started happening.

On one hand, it's lame as fuck. On the other, we all sort of knew it would turn out like this. Cyberpunk authors have been exploring the growing intersection of the internet and real life for ages. It was always going to come to this. <__<
