I think the point to make here is that companies that do horrible shit should be getting much higher penalties. No matter how you slice it, Jones willfully defamed and harassed victim's families for a decade and continues to profit off of it and made no effort to prove his own innocence.

I guess what I'm asking to shironinja is - is it all that ridiculous that a guy who ruined and harmed dozens of lives is, himself, ruined in exchange? He made no effort to mediate or sincerely apologize and appears to lack remorse, so even he can't act as though he didn't have an opportunity to right his wrongs. If his life is torn apart by this, so what? It's his fault for using his platform to call families of dead children "actors."
