Topic	Is this the most disappointing start to a console gen that you can remember?

It's a promising sidegrade but it literally can't become the next "big thing" until it becomes accessible and cheap enough. This is why for instance you see all this Metaverse stuff that is not strictly VR, it has to be "cross compatible" first.
