If he's willing to do that and use his fanbase to cover for him then I worry he's capable of worse too. As a speedrunner, and a speedrun enthusiast, and a mod for a speedrun stream, you may not fully know what it was like in the trenches, but Dream was a nightmare. So many people, not even kids, but fully grown adults, saying stuff like "It's technically not impossible, why would he cheat, he gains nothing, his run wasn't even WR so obviously he didn't cheat, there's no definitive evidence he cheated." They ran a hit job against the guy who was able to point holes in Dream's astrophysicist's math under his orders. He lied so long about it, used his fanbase to hate on detractors, and when he finally admitted, still wouldn't actually take the full blame and pinned it on another poor schmuck. Does he get any sort of punishment, though?
