The vast majority of those 60% is going to be things like 401(k)s and such and while some people look at them constantly most don't and many can't even access the wealth in them anyway.

The number of people affected significantly by a massive stock market drop is extremely small but it's considered major news because among that extremely small number are the people who own the fucking news in the first place.

There's way too much focus on left-right bias in news and nobody is really talking about the rich bias and how the rich are going to push Frontline stories that have an interest in making them richer.
