It was 120 minutes long AND hand colored, which is insane for a movie from 1908. It was also meant to be shown with live actors. It was too ambitious and a financial disaster since it SOLD OUT all shows yet still LOST MONEY. Speaking of The Wizard of Oz, there's also the jitterbug scene. It was cut because the jitterbug dance had just been invented and the producers didn't want the movie to become dated.
