I don't even quite understand it. Are they claiming it made no money or somey, which is clearly untrue? Not sure why remroving all traces of something should entitle them to money. This sort of slash n burn feels like it must not be what was originally intended by tax write offs.
When two companies merge, then they are able to do tax write offs on projects.
When you do a tax write off, you are not allowed to keep using it or earn any money on it, which is why all physical copies are being stopped in this case
It doesnt matter if the project is profitable or not, they can still write it off.
And since it is a tax write off, it is a big bag of profit for the company, here and now.
But what about future profits, you ask?
Yes, the future profits in the projects are lost, and most if not all HBO tax write offs would most likely have earned them more money in the long run, but for some people it is all about earning lots of money right now by legally gutting newly merged companies.
It is not the original intention by the law, but a loophole that keeps getting used by greedy CEOs.
Oh, and dont expect any of Discoverys shows to be written off, most of them are much cheaper to produce and gives a higher profit quicker.
