Tim Horton's used to have amazing donuts when they were baked fresh on site. Then about 15 years ago they decided to bake all the donuts at a central location and send them frozen to the restaurants. Since then they already taste stale when you buy them. Plus the variety plummeted. They also apparently changed their coffee brand for the worse and I've been told that MacDonald's coffee is actually the brand Timmies used to use. They then started adding not very good other stuff like wraps when sales dropped in hopes of bringing more business. The coffee bit is just what I've heard since I never drink the stuff. I do know that people used to line up for blocks every morning to get Timmies coffee.
