Why is this toxic movement so popular? This movement of going around searching far and wide to complain something is bigoted.

Not only is this going out of one's way to twist words to mean something else, it's also digging up something from 7+ years ago.

Shit like this only hurts legitimate issues of bigotry. It's like the boy who cried wolf all the time.

I wish I could say it was only bad faith folks doing this, but we have genuine folks who go on the purity bs. Where they'll dig through history to find something from years and years ago. That or the types that'll twist into complete pretzels to distort what someone said.

We wouldn't be in this cultural predicament if it weren't for tens of millions of Americans (with zero tech, media or political literacy) jumping on social media at the same time and not understanding how the internet or journalism work.

Smartphones becoming affordable and ubiquitous was a horrible, reckless mistake that we won't recover from.
