Topic | Save My Favorite Final Fantasy Characters XXIV: Day 90 (RULE CHANGE) [smfffc] |
MartinFF7 09/13/22 11:11:50 PM #285: | Unsolicited top 10 thoughts without really knowing how we got here or who's to credit or what the zeitgeist of the contest is: Faris Scherwiz: A bit of a surprise! Usually out in the 40-60s midgame, guess she was primed for another deep run, I recall Inviso was a fan so assumed they were the primary support source, but checked the SaveMy stats and see Maniac's her top saver, what a twist! Though maybe Inviso's still #1 by virtue of trading, that's probably the case... well anyways, nice to see her in the top 10 following up on last year's Galuf run (and successive successful run this year, wow!) Celes Chere: Reasons I like Celes: she's supported by fav users GMUN and Yankees; green leotard outfit. Dislikes: past champion, character from her game won last year, ugly Amano art outfit (makes Lettuce Kefka look good in comparison) Aerith Gainsborough: last year's finalist goddess making it through what I assume was her usually dicey midgame, no iron man per andy's post so no especially close calls? Glad to see my absence didn't doom her, assuming MI gets primary credit for carrying her this far as every year. Tifa's #1 in my heart but Aerith is #1 in my head, given her record runner-up performance. Tifa Lockhart: dodged most of the elimination pain last year since I had to focus on Sephiroth but her getting this far is giving me flashbacks to the XXII run that fell short on Day 97, damn. Could conditions be different this time? Surely at least one of the T&A pair can compete to win it all this time, right? Unless we got both in the finals, truly the dream. Rinoa Heartilly: so this is the power of "Super Strong"... Vivi Ornitier: oh geez. I remember my "one of these 10 will win" post from early in the game last year and watching out for the endgame Vivi run, seems he got there this time, first since XX. Pretty certain if I made a similar list on Day 20-something this year he'd be on it with the same reasoning, hell even if he three-peats he'll probably still be there threatening the four-peat. Movie monster's shambling closer while we're jiggling the doorknob to get out. Scary times ahead! Rikku: kind of a surprise to see her back again without the wind of the YR(P) push behind her sails, though considering she's got more top 10s than anyone else left standing at this stage, guess I shouldn't be too surprised. Still, nice! Tidus: I need to check the logsite to see how he made it over Seymour, damn. I always like the Seymour runs even if I could never really help them. I guess his departure is to Tidus's benefit led by the charon/Genny/guff trio, among others. Moonroof is still banned though, eh... probably for the best Emet-Selch: super happy about this. I mentioned in the nominations topic that, while I've never played XIV (and likely never will), I stumbled down the youtube rabbit hole on Emet-Selch videos and watched a good number of them (also listen to the 1-hour loop of "Invincible" when I really need it during my workday, so like multiple times a week). Love this character so am really glad to see he's last standing from XIV, and the top placement for that game has improved for each contest as more people get assimilated into the XIV collective. Top 5 in store for this run? He crushed the savecount so easily today, really can't even discount a run to the finals at this point either, damn. So good!! Ramza Beoulve: finally, the Tactics character denied his rightful run returning to the top 10. But after 2nd place Delita and 3rd place Agrias, is the community burned out on Tactics endgame runs? Or is this the time to finally declare "Yes, RICH Ramza!"? Would be a great follow-up victory to defeating Donkey Kong via yell spam. ... Copied to Clipboard! |
