It's more like the same issues that plagued the Red Army in Afghanistan simply carried over to the Russian Federation. Which are exactly what you listed, it's just that those problems predate Putin.

Study a history of the operations since the fall of the USSR and you see the same shit. Difference being that Ukraine isn't Georgia or Chechnya. It's large enough to fight back.
