We're in such a fucked-up place that a TV personality like Carlson can sit here and give instructions to Republicans, flat-out telling them to mock and degrade people, and they'll listen to him and do it. A huge part of the right's ideology is thinking empathy is a weakness and that people should be the worst humans they can be.
