Some male megastars reach high success because their appeal reaches both female AND male demographics. Jenn Lawrence has no shortage of popularity with male consumers, particularly in regards to her looks. That charm is not as big of a selling point with female consumers and her acting is not exactly irreplaceable.
If more women as consumers helped promote her as a favored icon and persuaded more men to support her work, there could be a shift. Statistically, she's SOL on that one. Female consumers are less likely to pay to see actresses like Lawrence. And activist takes like this article are actually NOT strong motivators with consumers regardless of sex. Some women will actually roll their eyes whenever they hear another pampered Hollywood bombshell whine about gender pay inequity in a field where she's still more privileged than 95% of the world.
