I have no idea what kind of show you're going, so I will assume you are going to some kind of rock or metal show with a mosh pit.

1. No karate in the pit. The point of the mosh pit isn't to put people in the hospital. If you start beating people up, the crowd will probably turn on you and beat the shit out out of you lol. Don't just flail your arms and legs around blindly without paying attention to the people around you.

2. On the west coast, mosh pits usually go in a circle. Go with the flow of the crowd. You can go against the crowd, which I've done a lot, but be prepared to crash into people. You might also aggro some drunk who tries to punch or kick you. When I went to CBGBs, I noticed they don't do the circle pit thing. Everyone just kind of moshes in any direction they want. I don't know if that's an east coast thing or just a CBGBs thing lol.

3. If you see someone fall down or get knocked down in the pit close to you, pick them up so they don't get trampled.

4. If you're going to stage dive, make sure the people you're going to jump on actually see you. Otherwise, you might end up just crashing into the floor or a wall lol.

5. You don't have to go into the pit if you don't want to. You can just stand on the outer edge of the pit, on the side of the stage, etc.
