sanctions cannot be fully enforced in a geopolitically bipolar world order such as this. within a given sphere of influence, international sanctions imposed by an opposing sphere are but a suggestion.

North Korea exists due to China and Russia.
it was a puppet government set up by the ussr in the 1940s, the existence of which was preserved by the prc in the 1950s. thrived while the ussr existed, but since its collapse, has only really remained afloat from humanitarian aid, trade (almost entirely) with china, and organized crime. i'm curious to what extent trade with russia has increased over the past few years, especially this year.
