Chihiro is not trans. Any interpretation of him as trans would make his depiction transphobic. He is just a crossdressing boy. Kazutaka Kodaka wanted a case where your assumption of the victim's gender is flipped on its head, and everything else weakly follows from that. It's why all of the characters immediately switch to male pronouns when they find out he's male. There is absolutely no thought put into him beyond the purpose he serves in the story. DR1 is atrocious for many reasons, and Chihiro is perhaps the best possible embodiment of why.
