Yep, you're right, it's actually life or death for billions of people.

If only there was a little bit more to life than just being "alive". The dude grew up in a household where dad wasn't around and never worked, forcing mom to be sole provider. They basically subsisted on his grandfather's mountain of treasure until that ran out, forcing them to scramble for funds. Is Gohan supposed to take emulate that same lifestyle for his own wife and daughter? The dude traveled around with a monk that has no life skills and is forced to house his wife and daughter on some old man's island and barely scrape by in entry level jobs well into his 40s. Is Gohan supposed to emulate that? Or maybe he's supposed to be like Vegeta and be angry and bitter all the time and barely tolerate his family's presence.

I'm sorry man, but Gohan chose to get an education and was able to leverage that into a well paying job where he can afford a fat ass house for his wife and daughter. Just because the other z fighters keep on contriving up stupid ass scenarios that throw the planet into danger isn't a Gohan issue. Maybe they should be a little bit more reasonable with their actions and do stuff like how Piccolo kidnaped his daughter and place her directly in harm's way because his pride refused to let him use the dragon to just make the problem go away.
