We should consider ourselves lucky that the only nefarious thing these corporations want to do is make money off of us and our data. They control a lot of it, and store everything. It's terrible. We even have our own social credit systems over here. The only difference is the government isn't controlling it.

the lines between the private and public sectors have always been blurred. in a peculiar way, we're fortunate that the corporations don't operate as a monolithic cartel, perhaps due to internal fiduciary pressures still driving some competition and discouraging the emergence of a more "altruistic" mesh of cooperating entities sharing data.

heaven knows how much of this data the national security apparatus has access to through.
