Then once the poor baby dies - remember, he had 1/4 of a head and no top of the skull, its a shocking sight and he/she must be in so much pain too - right after his/her last breath the woman is told that now she is sterile too. In handmaids tale, child bearing women are sex slaves. They get forcably raped, repeatedly, untill they can no longer give birth, then when they are no longer fertile they get sent to irradiated fields to dig trenches. Women who oppose this order are hanged in front of everyone for all to see. This is propped up by a literal christofascist government, which has priests as government officials.
