World Event Productions was originally going to use the series to create a third Voltron series, just as they did with Beast King GoLion and Armored Fleet Dairugger XV, but the latter series (which became "Vehicle Voltron") was such a flop they cancelled the third show and made more episodes of the wildly popular "Lion Voltron". Albegas was made up of three robots, Alpha, Beta, and Gamma (hence Al-Be-Ga-s), and the order in which they combined determined the giant robots powers.
