In my opinion it went downhill after 10. 10-2s battle system was pretty good, but after that they strayed away from everything that made Final Fantasy a classic experience.

Now they are so focused with making action rpgs and it just pisses me off, as they quite frankly suck at making them. Now, we can bring up Draqon Quest, but to be honest, that series also pisses me off.

Dragon Quest to me is the laziest rpg series I've ever seen. They have all the makings of a great franchise, but they reuse so many assets it just boggles my mind. And don't get me wrong, I don't mind the occasional reused asset. Slimes in the game should stay the way they are. But that said, outside of bosses and landscapes everything else is just a copy paste from the previous games. I hope they change it up with Dragon Quest 12 now that the composer is dead (the guy was an asshole), but I have my doubts that's going to happen.
