The premise is that a doctor tanks his career by choosing to operate on a child rather than the mayor of his town, leading to the mayor's death. Years later, he learns the child is a sociopath and grew up to be a serial killer. He feels duty bound to stop him. Just be warned that it is an extremely slow burn.
