Landlady found out her husband drank away their savings, severely damaged the house with illegal and unpermitted "repairs", (that purposefully neglected important parts of the structural integrity of the house, like the roof) and murdered her pets in an attempt to force her to sell her home (he has told everyone who will listen that he wants to go live in a trailer out in the middle of the wilderness and is also in his late seventies) and he counselled her to fraudulently sign documents that will earn her $50K fine for each document (five and counting) and has escalated his ongoing harassment campaign over the last two months.

Single bedrooms in Southern Ontario right now are going for $2000 plus utilities, my current rent is $600 all inclusive (hydro, heat, water, internet, tv) and the Landlord Tenant Board has an eight month backlog just to receive a file number to eventually get a hearing date. Housing in Ontario is a nightmare, 100K homes selling for well north of 1M+ and apartments last built in the 70's are horribly outdated, with many developers opting for building "luxury condos" (where luxury means it's wired for the electric and has indoor plumbing, with a nice coat of paint, and connecting either to the outside world is an extra luxury you will have to pay on top of everything else) Social housing has a minimum 10 year wait period in most municipalities.
