I literally thought maybe it was a Mexican/Asian thing cause she was half Mexican half Asian so I had no idea. Eventually you learn but in the beginning it sucks being yelled at. Id guess its cause if a car comes out of nowhere it hits the man first and the girl can perhaps get away. Only thing I can think of.
