They want climate change to bring about catastrophe, they want endless wars, and they want the state of Israel to take over Palestine so that the Rapture will happen.
They want to shame queer people, ban abortion, colonize, subject women and minorities, etc. because they believe it scores them brownie points when it comes time for their own souls to be judged. They are cruel because they believe they are "saving" these people, and therefore will themselves be saved.
I know it sounds batshit crazy. That's because it is. But it's literally what many powerful conservatives and their constituents actually literally believe. This is them believing they're in their endgame.
