I always considered it the low point for 3D Mario games. We went from immersive sandbox levels in 64/Sunshine to these bite-size planet-hopping levels that often felt overly scripted. I get that many people like Galaxy because its level design reminds them of classic 2D Mario, but Galaxy never quite clicked with me. Galaxy 2, on the other hand, I loved.
