You seem to be operating under the extremely naive idea that humanity has moved into an era where diplomacy is actually effective and not simply a temporary floodgate. It should have, but it hasn't, because it hasn't moved past those who would cause levels of unrest that would require putting diplomacy to the wayside in favor of, you know, survival.

You seem hellbent on acting like those who are having choices forced on them are the ones in the wrong for realizing that said choices are going to escalate well past the point where diplomacy is something that wouldn't be laughed off by the perpetrators. There is historical precedent for this, and these people have explicitly told us repeatedly who they are, and allowing them to believe they're untouchable for so long is exactly why they're so comfortable sending us down this path in the first place.

Fucking pay attention, and have some foresight ffs.
