There's often an acknowledgement of societal problems as being the symptom of ignorance or a small number of bad actors, and a fantastical conclusion that eliminates the problem. More radical takes are dismissed as being too political. We are seeing a shift in that though. Something like Thor Ragnarok received a lot of critical acclaim, in part because the thesis was "society is built on sin and atrocity and is incurable while preserving the glorification of the past".
