I wouldnt go as far as to call it denial. Its just how human minds sense time... aka not super well.

Like i got my diagnosis may of 2002... i struggle to believe that was 20 years ago.

Simultaneously ive been living on my own since march 2012.. also doesnt feel nearly that long.

And that sense lf time just gets worse the older you get...

Sure, human memory is fallible, and so many people don't do numbers too well, but I'm still going to stick with some degree of denial on their part. Who wants to be reminded that the years are marching on, and all you've done is squandered your time feeding into a bad system? Who wants to admit that future generations are already old enough to replace the ones in power? I know, from a number of memes, that Gen X likes to think they did nothing wrong in all this mess - because denial.
