It's a matter of timing though. Pirates and vikings, at least the yo-ho-ho kind and not the Somali kind, were a thing a couple centuries ago. There have been multiple expansions about the Scourge which killed millions of people a decade ago. One of the main heroes was an orc supremacist who blighted a land with the power of an Old God and waged war across the planet.
