One was that despite the main character being native, it barely even matters to the overall plot past the intro acts. Plus, slavery in the colonies is conspicuously absent. Another big problem is that colonial America doesn't have much architecture when it comes to climbing and leaping off of tall things, which is a big part of the appeal of these games. The game just comes down to "let's reenact a bunch of famous moments from history".
