Well I sure as fuck did.
Things I coped from TV...
- Built my own Ninja Turtle weapons so my friends could beat up the neighbors. Made a "sword" by sticking a pipe in a bicycle handle. Bo staff and nunchakus were easy to make. Although nunchakus had a tendency to fly apart. Built a grappling hook out of a bike kickstand, didn't work great.
- After watching American ninja movies, rode bikes to local knife store and bought throwing daggers and Chinese stars. Who sells these to kids? Some nice old lady is the answer. We practiced by throwing daggers into the dining room wall.
- After watching Highlander, my friend got a dude at the flee market to sell him a samurai sword. But it was like one of those cheap display swords your not supposed to hit anything with since it's a softer metal. We hit lots of stuff.
I could actually go on for 500 posts about stuff I tried from TV, including jumping a car Dukes of Hazard style. But, the point is, where do people get the idea that kids don't try what they see on TV?
