Remaking the 8th Season, even if such a thing were logistically possible, wouldn't magically fix the show - the worms were in the apple looooong before that.

It never occurred to me that anyone would actually attempt a direct sequel series, but now that the possibility's on the table, I find myself intrigued by the potential. It would (presumably) be free of D&D's blundering and in the hands of fresh writers, and wouldn't be shackled by the pressure to satisfactorily tie up all the lingering plots threads of the original series, something that contributed to the crippling of the later seasons of the show (and had clearly intimidated GRRM into a state of indefinite hiatus on the main book series for the past decade).

And I do think that, out of all the core cast, Jon Snow is the one who got shafted the worst as far as character resolution goes, which makes him the prime subject of a direct sequel.
