I mean, the Democrat party redeemed itself after previously being the pro-segregation party.

Most people have the memory span of goldfish. If people vote antiracist in the next two or three elections, expect the Republican party to disown anyone who is sincerely bigoted and attempt a new strategy. They will not give up their bigotry voluntarily, but they also won't drown clinging to bigotry like an anchor either. The majority of them won't, anyway. Many of them are only siding with bigots because they know that's their best chance for victory. It doesn't matter what it says about those people. They'd sell their souls to get elected.

There are people alive today who will never, ever forgive the Republican party or anyone who runs as a Republican candidate in the future. Even if the Republicans of the 2030s have the same social views as the Democrats of the 2030s. Even if the Republicans of the 2040s believe that trans children are valid and that some measure of gun control is needed, there will be people who will remember 1/6, Uvalde, Tennessee's suppression of information and Texas's oppression of trans youth and their families. The majority will be glued to whatever nasty celebrity breakup is going on at the time.

If a Republican goes off-script and does what's right for this country, expect the majority of their party to fall in-line. It's what happened to the Democrat party when JFK took office. In 20 to 30 years from now, it may be that most Republicans will be what Democrats are today and most Democrats will be socialists. Or maybe you'll see a social shift between the two parties because of the us-against-them mentality which forces one side to say boo whenever the other side is in favor of something. If an elected Republican started pushing socialist policies like a reverse wolf-in-sheep's-clothing, expect the Democrat party to become the capitalist party in America.

Nothing is for certain in politics.
