Maybe I'm just a weird Australian dad who just hasn't grown up around semiautomatic weapons. Maybe I am just complacent and snug in the security that I can send my daughter to school and she won't be gunned down by some fucking nut before bell time. That's a sacrifice some people are willing to make in the US, I guess? The right to have something that has no practical, legal purpose (but my gosh does it look cool on the wall!) is apparently worth more than the lives of children.
