If you're going to have a table in a suboptimal place that people randomly have a chance of being assigned to, don't be surprised when people bitch.

I'm not even saying that there aren't people who take it to far. But to pretend like it isn't a valid complaint from them is insane.

You have to have a certain amount of tables to be a viable buisness. Not only that but I already explained why its not shitty nor is it viable for many places to have a huge buffer. In addition a huge part of the issue is HOW guests handle it. Instead of requesting things at the podium they childishly get mad when we get near the table.

And again short staffed like every restaurant is. I dont have time to clear a different table and I dont want to overseat a section.

Customers suck, especially as they get older. Workers are burned out and businesses are not desperate for business right now. Customers are welcome to get takeout or go somewhere else.

I think the request itself is fine, but needs to be made when you are initially talking to the host. That way the host can be like "sure thing, but please know that it could potentially be a longer wait for your requested area to be ready"

It definitely isn't a request to make as you are being seated.

Yes but only if we arent crowded. If we are crowded you take whats open or accept an indefinite wait with zero complaint.
