It feels crazy to me that people are talking about 25 degrees as though it were ridiculously cold. I remember back in school they'd do all the roll calls and everything outside, with a rule that they'd only allow students inside early if the temperature dropped below negative 20; one morning it was exactly 20 below and the principal relished telling everyone not to complain and vowing the entire school would stay out there longer for each person that complained.

It's kinda ridiculous to go from "20 below zero is weather you force children into as punishment" to "weather 45 degrees warmer than that is fatal". So ridiculous I had to check historical weather charts and confirm the weather was actually -20 back then & my memory was actually functioning.

...In retrospect this may just be another example of how messed up my town is.

-20 actually is dangerously cold, your town is seriously messed up, and that principal was a fucking psychopath.
