The FX chip was the big one because of Star Fox, but a lot of the most powerful SNES games used all kinds of chips.

Super Mario RPG for instance used the SA1, and I already mentioned Tengai Maky Zero which used some massive decompression chip that Hudson made in house because the game was massive for the time. Interestingly, Rendering Ranger R2 (Which is my pick for the best looking game) didn't use a chip.
