The root of the problem is insane and violent people.. Yeah no, that's not how that works. When someone is on suicide watch, people tend to keep them away from anything they could use to potentially kill themselves. Sharp objects, medication, guns... We can acknowledge one of the biggest problems is mental health while also acknowledging that within our power, we can limit the extent of the damage someone can cause by prohibiting their access to certain tools. Because at the end of the day, a crazy person with a knife is significantly less dangerous than a crazy person with an AR-15 and that's an indisputable fact.
